Research Topic

The topic that I choose to do research on is Virtual Reality Systems. I choose this particular topic so that I could find out more about what it is, how it was developed and when it was developed. Also, I'm doing the research to find out what it is used for and what kind of new developments can be made with the different types of research being conducted. What kind of progress can be made through the new developments of the different Virtual Reality Systems and the locations in which the labs are created for the systems. Also, I wanted to find out the most popular use of the Virtual Reality Systems and what other names does it go by. To find out who came up with the name Virtual Reality and when it was actually put to use through trial and error. The different types and levels of importance that Virtual Reality usage has and what are the different types of equipment that can be used in the simulators. To find out if Virtual Reality research is limited to just the United States or is it something being conducted throughout the rest of the world. If it is a world wide research subject is the date that is being collected from the research shared so that new developments can occur as well as locating the problems with the current systems that are being used. The research that I am doing on this topic is so that I can obtain the information that i need to answer my on personal questions about Virtual Reality and its usage.

The internet communication versus traditional communication article was by Gerry McGovern. The site states the date it is copy written and by whom, plus it provides information about how you can contact the author. There is also a list of recommended readings of books that the author has written and how they are available different universities. The year that the site was published and the date that it was last updated is also provided. Information about Mr. McGovern and his supporters is also given on the about us page and there are also links provided to give more information about Mr. McGovern and his supporters.

Advisor.com is the second source that I used to obtain information from. The article that I used is titled Keep in Touch: Setting up a Webcam. The site gives you the copy right date at the bottom of the page. Also, it provides information about the site, the different types of magazines that they have and the different events that they have going on throughout the year. It is a member based site and certain information is not available unless you are a member. The site does provide you with the contact information in case you have any questions about the site, how you can join, the different events that they sponsor, etc and this is available through the link that they provide.

My third source that I used is a bit different from the rest because it has some religious views. The name of the site is called Christian Science Monitor. It provided the date that the article was published and it also has an archive that allows you to view back editions that may have more information. You can also subscribe to the site to obtain information that you cannot view unless you are a subscriber. Contact information is also provided in case you have any questions. The site talks about what kind of organization they are, what they have established, who advertises with them, and what kind of supporters they have.

Most Recent Argument

The most recent argument that I had was with my mom today about my Uncle's Playstation 3. She wanted to know why he keeps bring in over to my house when he leaves his house. Instead of leaving it at his with his girlfriend and her kids. My response to her was that I guess he trusts it being at my house not being played than at home where it will be played constantly. My Uncle is very overprotective of his game systems and how they are cared for and by whom. He feels that if he bought it with his money then he chooses who plays and who doesn't. I don't play video games like that and I don't really like the Playstation 3. This is also why my uncle chooses to leave it with me at my house becaus he knows I won't play it. I told her that I have no problem with him leaving his game system at my house like storage because she has left her things at my house like it was a storage, so I proved my point.

Reflection Blog

The topic of virtual reality is very diverse in the way that some define it and in the ways that they use it. Also, it is consider diverse because of the name virtual reality itself. I wanted my topic to be for a general audience and not focus on just a specific group of people. Providing information on the different areas that virtual reality is in and the different reasons that it is used in that particular area and how people can benefit from it. I wanted the design of the site to be as simple as possible with easy navigation throughout the pages and to have working links to the other pages. The information that I provided on the site I believe benefits everyone, whether they had knowledge about the use of it or not. For those who have some kind of knowledge about what virtual reality is, I’m sure that my discussing the different things that it can be used for and the benefits of its use are very informative. It is even more informative to those who don’t know what the use of virtual reality is and the positive effects that it has on people. Most of the research done on the topic of virtual reality was based on educational usage, medical use, and scientific use. The information comes from different Universities throughout the United States and the programs that they are compiling and run using virtual reality. Also, information is obtained from online journals that have done articles on virtual reality what it is, who uses it, why they use it, the benefits of using it, and the progression of its use. Also, included in the research are some of the studies that were conducted, who participated in the studies and the results of the studies.

How did you come about choosing your topic?

Technology

The things that I use on a daily bases is considered a part of technology and has had a good impact on my life. In my home I use heat which comes from a furnace that was built using the technology that we have today. The stove, the refrigerator, the washer, the television, the phone, etc. are all apart of technology that is being used today. If scientists and engineers had not took the time to gather and use the information from other scientists and engineers from the early parts of the century we could not have advanced as far as we have today. By going over the information and conducting their own experiment s we are able to use some of the same equipment that was used in the past built more efficiently and productively. We are living in society that can create and build using their own ideas or by modifying the ideas of other scientists, engineers, philosophers, agriculturalists, and many more. It is a fascinating and developing culture that we live in and it is one that will continue to develop as time goes on. Many would say that the computer and cell phone industry are the ones that are advancing the most but if you take a look at everything that we use daily it has advanced as well. Even though new computers and cell phones are being advertised the most as having to advance from what they once were. Don’t get me wrong teach one of them have came along way from what it use to look like to how it works. There are other important things that have advanced that don’t get much notice like the advancement on houses, transportation systems, high ways, schools, and certain government and state programs. Technology is a wonderful thing to have and I look forward to learning about its advancements not matter what they are.

Cyber Culture

I use the internet to check my emails, instant message, play games online, and just to surf to read up on what’s going on in the world today. By engaging in these activities is has introduced me to the cyber world and the different opportunities that are available through the internet. I don’t go into chat rooms like I use to because of the things that have occurred that were associated with chat rooms. I don’t buy anything online I find what I’m looking for and the price for it and I go to the store to buy it. I don’t feel comfortable giving out my personal financial information online because of the hackers and the scammers that are on the net. I use facebook as a way to keep in touch with my friends and family to find out how they’ve been and what they have been up to. In some ways I feel as though I’m not in a particular cyber culture group because I don’t really participate in anything. I used to hang out in chat rooms and everything that’s associated with it back when I was in high school but I don’t really see a need to do that any more. Since I have changed my focus and priorities towards my family and school I don’t really have the time to go into different chat rooms and sit there and chat for hours. My experience with the cyber world has been a positive on and I don’t really seeing anything happening to change that.

Popular Culture

Pop culture has had a certain amount of influence on the types of decisions that I have made throughout my life. I never was really the type of person to be into fashion and what was the current style going on at that time. By doing this I could see myself being labeled and judge because of my actions and also being added to a group of people who also see things the way I see them. In a way pop culture labels and categorizes people into particular groups that it feels that person belongs. While in school I didn’t hang with the certain groups because of how they acted and what they said. This was my choice not to because I didn’t like the fact that they were saying that material things could buy you friends. Pop culture played a part in this because that was the image given on television. I listen to songs that I like not the songs that I’m supposed to listen to because of the type of group that I’m in or associated with. My clothing does not look the same as what pop culture says it should and that’s because I have my own taste in what I like to wear whether it is part of the current fashion trend or not. I try not to let pop culture have that much influence on me and the decisions that I make in life because I have a different taste on the things that I want and what I do than what pop culture suggests.
